Tauhara North No2 Trust’s Land & Food strategy is about recognising our whakapapa to Ngāti Tahu-Ngāti Whaoa and our united desire to be kaitiaki of our whenua and other resources within our region. The why of our land & food strategy is to allow Ngāti Tahu-Ngāti Whaoa to be true kaitiaki of our rohe while we provide whānau an opportunity to work our whenua sustainably for current and future generations.
Kai tino rangatiratanga is important for us as Māori to support our whānau moving forward. As large landowners with a focus on Manaaki it is a natural progression for the Trust to invest in kai for our future generations.
Farming has always been part of our community. Our farms are long term growth assets for the trust and its owners, and we believe we have the capability to manage these operations to optimise the land to increase our returns and protect our environment.
